Feeling dizzy? Reach for something stable.
If you are feeling dizzy, put your hands on something stable.
There are three body systems involved with balance: your body position, your vision, and special fluid-filled organs in your inner ear.
Of the three, your inner ear is the most important for balance, and there are a lot of things that can affect that system, such as ear infections, motion and hydration.
Feeling “dizzy” is the sensation that occurs when something in that inner ear is out of synch with the rest of the body.
But your brain can overpower the “dizzy” signals to counteract the feeling. Your hands are really sensitive with a lot of nerve receptors and can help you regain balance.
