Maximize your coffee's kick with a nap.
You need an afternoon boost. Should you take a quick nap or grab a cup of coffee? Your best bet may be to try both.
A Japanese study found that people who took “coffee naps"—consuming the caffeine found in one to two cups of coffee followed immediately by a 20-minute rest—felt more alert and performed better on computer tests than those who only took a nap. It’s said to work because just after the short nap ends, the caffeine kicks in and maximizes alertness.
Be careful, though. Too much caffeine throughout the day can disrupt essential nighttime sleep.
