Minimize scars with sunscreen.
Scars are common after a cut or surgery, but you can help minimize them while protecting your skin.
After your scar has healed, apply sunscreen to the scar and the area around it regularly.
A sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) with zinc or titanium dioxide will reduce the new skin’s exposure to UVA and UVB rays. This lessens the discoloration and can prevent a thicker scar from developing.
