Portable shade...just use an umbrella.
The truth is that a perfect summer afternoon in Florida is not spent daydreaming on a rocking chair with a glass of homemade lemonade. Most times, you’re running errands on-the-go or sitting on the bleachers watching your kid at baseball practice while baking under a hot sun.
Even though your body does a good job at keeping your temperature in check, sometimes the heat can be too much for it to bear. Carrying around an umbrella that helps block you from direct sunlight can reduce the temperature of the air around you up to 10-15 degrees. Otherwise, you’ll want to seek shelter under a tree or overhang to keep your body cool.
Keeping your body temperature in check helps you avoid potentially life-threatening heat-related illnesses. If you think you or someone might be overheated and are experiencing any of the following symptoms, seek medical attention immediately:
- Fast heart rate
- Trouble breathing
- Dizziness, loss of coordination
- Nausea or vomiting
- Loss of consciousness/coma
