Sugar can rid you of hiccups.
A spoonful of sugar doesn’t just help the medicine go down, sometimes it’s all the medicine you need.
Next time you get the hiccups try swallowing a teaspoon or two of sugar. The vagus nerve, the one that’s causing you to have the hiccups in the first place, is stimulated by the sugar, causing the hiccups to stop.
Make sure to see a health care professional if your hiccups last more than 48 hours, or if they’re interfering with your regular routine.
