Turn on the lights when taking your medicine.
Taking medicine may seem like second nature, especially for pills you take every day. But don’t fool yourself: Turn on the lights so you can see what you are doing. If you wear glasses, put them on too.
It's easy to mix up pills if you have three or four identical prescription bottles sitting on a shelf. Medication mix-ups can be dangerous. Stop, look and read before you swallow—each and every time you take your medicine.
If you have taken the wrong medicine, taken a dose at the wrong time, or accidentally taken someone else's prescription, call your doctor, pharmacist or the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.
